Weblog and Online Business Related Terms With Definitions
I saw some terms and I think it will be great to share them here.. So all are Weblog and Online Marketing related terms, I culled all from Money Online Making,
So lets do this Pals..
- Affiliate - partner who gets paid by a business or merchant by referring a customer to buy the merchant’s product or service.
- Affiliate Marketing – Marketing practice in which a business or merchant pays – either by money or other reward – an affiliate for each customer referred by the affiliate’s efforts.
- Affiliate Network – Intermediary that helps manage affiliate programs for merchants and assists affiliates find which programs/products to promote and pays affiliates for successful leads generated.
- analysis paralysis – term that describes over studying how to do something – particularly making money on the Internet – without doing anything of substance to make it happen.
- ATM – Automated Teller Machine. Device at bank to deposit and withdraw money from a bank account.
- autopilot - when something happens without your constant intervention
- autoresponder - Software such as AWeber that will regularly send out an emails to a mailing list. Most experts agree that selling to a list is the most effective way to make money.
- Blog - short for weblog – a website that is generally easy to create dynamic content with regular entries like a journal. Many blogs contain graphics or video. The word can also be a verb meaning adding new content to a blog.
- blogger - one who writes and/or manages a blog.
- bottom line – financial term to describe net profits earned from a business.
- burnout - getting tired and giving up on your pursuits
- Clickbank - Affiliate Network where more than 10,000 products are available to promote as an affiliate.
- commission rates – The amount of money, expressed as a percentage, that merchants pay their affiliates per sale.
- conversion rates – how successful an affiliate product sells when presented to perspective customers.
- copy - words to help sell a product or service.
- Dan Kennedy – Author, speaker, and multimillionaire entrepreneur; he is a trusted marketing adviser, consultant and coach to many executives of large businesses throughout the world.
- Domain - common network name by which a web site is known, such as Google.com or MoneyOnlineMaking.com. The name must be unique to be distinct from other web sites on the Internet.
- ebook - paperless electronic book
- ezine - email newsletter delivered on a regular basis to subscribers
- Flippa - Flippa.com – where websites are bought and sold
- flipping - Buying an existing web site and then later selling the site at a profit.
- Forum - also known as a message board, is a Internet discussion site where online conversations appear as posted messages.
- Google Keyword Tool – Google’s Adwords utility that helps with discover the phrases people enter while searching for what they want.
- Gravity - Clickbank’s weighted average of how many affiliates have made a sale within the last six weeks or so. Generally, the higher the gravity, the more successful a product’s sales for affiliates.
- guest bloggers – Someone who posts an article on a blog that is not their own. Their incentive for doing so is getting backlinks to increase their own site’s search engine ranking.
- IRC - Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is a way to send instant text messages over the Internet. It can be used for communication between individuals, among groups or for conferencing.
- joint venture partner – someone you can team with to help sell your product
- minibike - a small motorcycle with small wheels and frame and raised handlebars
- money keywords – keywords that are regularly searched with less competion
- niche - a subject specially suited to a person’s expertise interests or abilities. A narrow market where there is a demand for a product or service.
- nitty gritty – the tiny details of something
- Overture - Company acquired by Yahoo that provides pay-per-click and sponsored search services
- passive income streams – earning a steady flow of money without actively working to make it
- PLR - Private Label Rights. It is content you can buy and reuse as your own in a variety of ways.
- PPC - Pay-per-click (PPC) is a form of advertising where the advertiser pays a third party advertising service – often Google Adsense – very time a perspective client clicks on the advertiser’s ad.
- pre-sell – promote an affiliate product and lead customer to affiliate’s web site for the sale (for which you receive a percentage)
- social marketing – promoting a business message via the social tools such as Twitter or Facebook
- soft sell - using subtle persuasion to convince perspective customers to buy from you.
- Super Affiliate – An affiliate who generates a large portion of the income for the merchant they promote.
- upsell - selling a customer on a more expensive item or an addiitional item at a discount, usually at checkout.
